A kwh means a kilowatt-hour. This unit is used for measuring energy use over time. The BP Energy Calculator gave the example that a 100 watt light bulb left on for 10 hours will consume one kilowatt-hour of electrical energy. One gallon of gasoline contains 35 kwh of energy.
Energy is a strange thing. It feels like you almost have to pay a price for it. I like to think of it like this; Walking 20 miles would exaust you but driving a car would not and you would get to your destination faster. Well eventually the worlds going to get back at you for not giving that energy. It has to come out equal somehow.
